PAY WHAT YOU CAN TICKETING
The Vaults are proud to offer an unorthodox pricing system, allowing customers to purchase tickets from as low as £3. This scheme means that you choose what you pay based on what you genuinely feel able to afford.
HOW DO WE DO THIS?
The Vaults is an independent and un-funded organisation, and as such all our ticket income goes directly towards paying our staff, cast, crew and general venue up-keep. We manage all of our own production budgets and always allow enough leeway to support a cheaper band of tickets.
We’re not about exclusivity or high prices - accessibility remains a core part of who we are. We believe that all art forms should be inclusive, inspiration should come cheap, and encouragement to join the industry should be wide-reaching.
Not everyone in London is able to afford to take themselves to a West End show, let alone their children and families. By offering these ticket options, we hope to contribute to future generations of theatre makers and lovers.
WHY DO WE DO THIS?
WHAT ARE THE LIMITATIONS?
We unfortunately are not able to offer Pay What You Can tickets every day. We instead schedule these tickets for our quieter days, when we can guarantee enough available space.
These tickets are also limited in availability, we typically release between 20 and 50 allocated tickets per night. We also limit purchases to a maximum of four per booking. This helps prevent misuse of the scheme and ensures that large groups or commercial bookings do not take advantage of it.
Please also note that Pay What You Can tickets are usually allocated to our lower-priced seating areas, which may mean you are seated further from the action or have a less immersive experience.
Finally, Pay What You Can may not be available for every show at The Vaults. We offer it for all of our in-house productions, but when we host external companies, we do not always control their box office or ticketing policies.
WHY ARE YOU TELLING US THIS?
We believe in transparency in our business operations, and that being open about our values, policies, and limitations helps to create the safe and welcoming environment we aim to provide for our customers.
We want people to understand the reasons behind our efforts, as well as the risks we take by providing this option. We ask that tickets are purchased honestly and fairly—because if they are not, we may not be able to continue offering this affordable pricing model.
WHAT PRICE DO I CHOOSE?
If you are able, we would always ask that you select a full price ticket. These are set at what we believe to be fair and reasonable rates for our shows, into which we pour months of care, creativity, and hard work. However, if you decide to use the Pay What You Can option, we ask that you take a moment to genuinely consider the production and what you can realistically afford.
If you can afford one £20 ticket but your friend can only afford £10, we truly appreciate seeing that reflected in your booking - it lets us know that the system is being used thoughtfully and responsibly.
